Dr. Peter Rowe brings an expert combination of training, experience, and published work to Colorado Pain Care, which makes him an excellent choice for even the most challenging conditions. Dr. Rowe began his education at Tufts University, graduating with Cum Laude honors, before completing his medical training at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After a general surgery internship at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut and a residency in anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Dr. Rowe became a staff anesthesiologist in the department of anesthesiology at the Riverside Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Dr. Rowe brought his expertise as a pain management specialist to his positions as director at the Center for Pain Management department of anesthesiology at the University of Florida Health Sciences Center at Shands Jacksonville Medical Center and in the same position at the Baptist Institute of Pain Management at the Baptist Medical Center, also in Jacksonville, Florida.
Most recently, Dr. Rowe has worked not only in the examining room, but also in the classroom. As an associate professor in the department of anesthesiology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Dr. Rowe worked with the next generation of pain management specialists, while at the same time serving as the Director of the Anesthesia Pain Clinic at VAMC in Denver. In addition, Dr. Rowe served as the staff anesthesiologist in the department of anesthesiology at VAMC.
Dr. Peter Rowe is a nationally recognized pain specialist who has published and presented on his particular areas of expertise, including anesthesia for liver transplant and management of epidural anesthesia during labor and delivery. Dr. Rowe has presented on new techniques for peripheral nerve blocks and the importance of positioning with regards to the quality of the treatment. In addition to reviewing traditional methods of pain management, Dr. Rowe has also presented on new developments in acute pain management as well as peri-operative pain management for opioid-dependent patients.
Dr. Rowe is a member of the multidisciplinary pain medicine committee at VAMC and is a diplomat with both the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is board-certified in Pain Management through the ABA. As a respected member of his community, both personally and professionally, Dr. Rowe earned the “Unsung Hero” award for outstanding resident support at the University of Colorado Department of Anesthesiology in 2012. He has worked to help train the next generation of pain doctors. Dr. Rowe also proudly served his country as a general medical officer in the United States Air Force and is licensed to practice in both Colorado and Florida.
