Aiding our physicians is a highly skilled team of Advanced Practice Providers. Their backgrounds vary from family care practices to international care and together they bring expert medical assistance to the Colorado Pain Care Team.
Michael Johnson, PA-C
Michael grew up in New Jersey with his Irish mother and continues to be passionate about Irish culture. He attended Alderson Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia where he received his degree in Physician Assistant studies. His career has taken him all over United States and on a medical mission trip to Honduras.
His first job in the medical field was in Alabama at a hospital setting family care practice. After a year, he moved to Colorado and worked in a family practice for over 20 years. Michael started at Colorado Pain Care as a temp before becoming a permanent staff member. He is highly skilled in performing evaluations, joint injections, and collaborating with physicians to create treatment plans.
He enjoys being laid back and playfully teasing everyone (with the hopes they’ll tease back!). In his spare time, he enjoys camping, hiking, and photography.
Rachael Passafaro, PA-C
Rachael Passafaro received her formal training at George Washington University in Washington DC, where she completed her Masters of Science in Health Science and Physician Assistant Studies. She is published and has performed researched, as well as highly certified, all completed throughout her education. Prior to joining the Colorado Pain Care team, she was practicing Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, Jacksonville.
While she grew up on the East Coast, she enjoys all the wonders the great outdoors of Colorado has to offer in her spare time, including snowboarding and hiking.
Tammy Switzer, FNP-C
Tammy Switzer is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with 19 years of continuously proven experience. Through her intensive and comprehensive care of bone marrow transplant patients, she has gained thorough diagnostic skills, as well as treatment for a wide range of acute conditions. Her exceptional skills and attentiveness to patients makes her a wildly successful addition to Colorado Pain’s team of experts.
Tammy received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri before attending Regis University and completing her Masters in Nursing in 2012.
Outside of work, Tammy loves taking landscape photography of Colorado and her favorite locations – Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Yellowstone National Park. She also is an avid volunteer at the Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue.
